This is one for the writers and readers. I spoke with Miles Franklin winner Shankari Chandran, Tim Ayliffe and Ashley Kalagian-Blunt and got into the weeds on choosing ideas to work on, managing pacing and structure, writing vivid scenes and the relationship between author and publisher.
We also played a game of ‘myth or tip’ at the end, where we debunked or confirmed a few writing cliches. We were also lucky enough to have Tom Kenneally participate and share some of his wisdom.
